The Ladies Join The Tour

Departure from Northampton was at 7:00 AM. We headed North on the interstate to Brattleboro, VT - about a 40 mile ride. At Brattleboro, we headed Northeast through New Hampshire and bound for Portland, ME (approximately 200 miles) to pick up Janet and Ronna at the Portland airport. They arrived around 1:00 PM, a little ahead of schedule, and Alan and I arrived via motorcycle about 1:10 PM. The timing couldn't have been better.

After a brief reunion and the ladies changing into rain gear, we headed North for a 130 mile trip to Bangor, ME, our final destination for the day. We arrived at Bangor around 5:00 PM a little damp after riding most of the day in the rain.

For all of our friends in the South who are sweltering in the heat, come North. The temperature for our ride in the rain was 57 degrees.

For my hero, Jim Cox, I reflected on your trip of two years ago as we passed Bar Harbor, ME.
(Jim, along with his wife Rosie, rode bicycles from the state of Washington to Bar Harbor, ME - now that's a "bike ride").

Today we rode through four states (MA, VT, NH, ME).

Last year, we sweltered in the heat in Utah; this year, we are dripping in the rain in Maine. I did not sign on for this kind of abuse. Tomorrow is a new day and hopefully better weather. I am finding out when you motorcycle, you take the weather as it comes!
